Are Irish people irreverent?

I can be irreverent, even when i am trying really hard to be reverent. My mothers side of the family is Irish. Someone said something to me about Irish people being irreverent and it got me thinking. I know you can't generalize, though. I am wondering if this is my Irish heritage. It sure does get me into a heap of trouble.
Additional Details
Not irrelevant! Irreverent.

Well, we can see the unorthodox side of things. If it gets you into trouble, you might want to tone it down a bit. You would fit in here mighty fine, though

irreverent......................... irreverent as in rude?

..............well that might go against the fact that we have been voted the friendliest people in the world!

Orla C
Lots of people are irreverent, it's not a heritage thing, more a personality/attitude thing.

In other words, being irreverent doesn't necessarily mark you out as Irish.

I'm very much Irish. I'll be honest, yes we can, but that's just how we are. I take pride in my people and i don't care what other people think about my ancestors.

How crazy, can we say that about any other Nationality ?
Yes , we surely can....so it kind of makes this whole question
how do you say ? .....quite Irrelevant !
