No.

You will need Euros in the south and British pounds in the north.

As readily as Euros are accepted in America.

Nave

pretty true what some of the recent respondants have said.u might find the occassional souvenir shop that would take them but at a rate well above the current exchange.get thee to a bank or bureau de change!

mountain lady
They are accepted at banks and currency exchange places.

Of course not! Do we accept Euros here? No, we don't. Why would they accept our money?

Jimmy Krumpets
doubt it

slaveboy_43
I was in Ireland last year. Alot of places will take american, but they will charge a fee to convert to Euros. Your best bet is to go to the exchange , which is in the airport. In Dublin, it is right in the baggage claim area for arrivals. They will give you a current conversion rate, and there is no fee, or it i minimal at best. Visa Mastercard or tavelers cheques are all very good alternatives to cash.
Also just a word of advise to all who travel out of the country. Notify credit card company, and bank debitcard dept. of your travel dates. They will decline all purchases if they are not informed of your travel.

Unless your gonna give it into a bank to change for you or a currency shop you better bring lots of Euro with you, the cost of living is high over here now, and if you are hiring a car be prepared to pay up to 1.23 for a litre of petrol!!! Your dollar wont get you far here I'm afraid

Only an American would ask that question, lol! The world doesn't evolve around you guys

soks098
Only in a bank when you're converting Dollars into Euros!!

ckatz
No only Euros but you can exchange them at the airport when you leave or when you get there at the airport or the bank, but my suggestion is to get a american express card for whatever amount you think you will need. That way if its lost you will get the money back, also not as many fees and you can set it up to get money out of an ATM, also bring some travelers checks just in case and you can exchange those at the bank.

you can exchange them in a bureau de change in any bank. But shops accept the Euro only

Orla C
No, they are not. We use Euros. You can get them from an ATM with your bank card now, and it's charged to your bank account in the US.

Only an American wouldn't think to ask whether that's Canadian, Australian or New Zealand dollars.

some of the big department stores in dublin will accept them, but you are going to get a lousy rate, better off changing them at the bank.

yeasoimlost
