I worked for the RSPCA in Northern Ireland. in a town outside Belfast. Just as anywhere else in the UK. We had to take action against known owners for cruelty, No different to many places in the World. We also where aware of cases in the South (Eire)
Where Humans have animals some people will take advantage of their own power over the weaker animal,
It is normally lack of understanding, and the bully who likes the feel of power, many cases are just not thinking, we even had a case where a child put a dog in a boiling hot bath just to give it a wash, the child did not understand to check the temp. first. and many cases of cats and dogs used for cross bow targets. and hanged animals from trees. We all have this in us some where. just some take it too far.. |

Depends on the owner really. |

That's like asking "Are dogs badly treated in the U.S.?"
Depends on the owner! |

The vast majority are well treated.Unfortunately some are not so lucky but I'd say we are no worse than any other nation. |

Some people do but most people are very good to their animals. My dad has dog kennels and nearly all the dogs are treated like part of the family and are nearly better cared for than the humans. People are very attached to their animals. But I have seen people being cruel. I am sad to hear that you see so many dogs mistreated. Its sick to be cruel to any animal. |

ohh god "deburca98" the man never asked for a yes or no answer,so don't launch an attack on him saying he has contempt for irish people
well to the answerer,it's no different than any other country
i have 3 dogs and one of them i rescued who had been abandoned so there are dogs that are treated badly but the majority are treated very well.same as every country. |

the rspca was started by an irishman richard martyn from galway.
Your question cannot be answered with a yes or no. it actually shows your contempt for irish people |

There is a problem alright with unwanted and stray dogs in Ireland...poor things. You will hear some rare cruelty stories in the local papers about dogs being mistreated, cruelty cases and neglect, but unfortunately that is the case no matter what country you are in. But most dog owners are fantastic and really care for their pets, and animal charities do some amazing work in this country. |

I would imagine that just like anywhere else, some are treated well, and some aren't. I met many dogs while in Ireland -- some owned by relatives of my partner and some just while on the road. All were healthy and happy dogs. I met some of the friendliest dogs just roaming around in the countryside -- likely farmer's dogs |
