Why When How
 |
it's a daft question, sorry now. We are people with different personalities and opinions and temperaments. Some people are nice, others are not. We are no different from anyone else.

Sher it's like that song 'Ebony and Ivory' when Paul McCartney (or was it Stevie Wonder?) says 'there is good and bad in everyone'. Irish people are no different.
We're Irish and we think we're nice. Unfortunately a lot of the women don't seem to think so and that's why we're lonely bachelor farmers. But sher everyone has their own cross to bear, we suppose..... |

I think they are very friendly. At least the ones I've met. Most Irish people like peace. |

I am Irish and was born and reared in Ireland. I think we're nice - mostly. Like any other country, we have our fair share of jerks. |

As far as i have heard we are very nice. One of my teachers was gram germany and she told us that when she first got here she didn't have a clue of her way around. She was standing at the bus stop trying to make sense of the confusing timetable and some irish woman went over to her to help her. My teacher said that in germany Absolutely no one would just approach you and help you if you looked like you were in trouble! |

There is that word Nice again and we can not see the look on your face as you say it.
In Ireland it is a well used word with its meaning of lt shown by the look on the face. Same words very different meanings from could not care less to total joy and every point in between.
Now had you asked do the Irish give a straight answer to a straight question, never not even under oath.
We are curious about all we meet and like to know their business and bore them to death with ours so are considered "Friendly".We love our Craic and our Ceol (Fun and Song) we welcome all worth welcoming and enjoy our lives regardless. If you want to keep yourself to yourself now we won't let you without trying to make you smile at the least.
We supply most of the better comedians, writers, singers and up to recently builders to the world. We do not all get Drunk,Swear or wear funny hats so we are not sterotypes but just good people with the usual exceptions but we will lookfoward to seeing you soon |

While I wouldn't quite agree with Paul's phrasing he is right. A lot of the travellers are very dodgy and you would be best to be on your guard with them. I do feel for the honest ones because there are some of them out there. As everyone else has said it depends where you go and who you meet. I have met some people who could easily compete for the title of world's biggest scumbag but then I have fantastic friends here as well. |

I visited Ireland years ago and worked at 3 different blue collar jobs (illegally I might add) during the course of 3 months. They are guarded about outsiders, but want to know all about you. They think most Americans are rich, but they are generous just the same. They also think we're a bit off our rocker, but would say you're in good company. |
