no we dont use postcodes, except for dublin. For Dublin the postcodes are all "D" and then a number..like D15 or D6
A quick way to understand them is that south of the liffey (the river that splits dublin) all the post codes have even numbers like d4 or d12. But north of the river every post code has odd numbers like d3.
The exception to that rule is Phoenix park cos thats D8 but is on the north side.
Anyway, i doubt your sat nav will even need the postcodes to find its way around dublin, just as long as you know the name of the village you will be grand

Edit:Ah crap...ive just realised you only asked about shannon and carrick so u really didnt need all that info about dublin lol

no not needed at the moment through when filling out forms on internet it can be annoying as they keeping saying you have to fill in postcode field

No we don't. Just use the address, town, road etc, should work OK, I have people visit here and they type in the town name.

Is máith liom cáca millís!
Nope there are none for Carrick. Just Dublin.

We have 'townlands' though so if you know that then you'll be grand!

The south of Ireland hardly use door numbers. Only in the big smoke are postcodes required.

Mark C
No .You can just type in IE.Glad to help Mark C>

Orla C
There is no such place as Southern Ireland. The name of the country is the Republic of Ireland, or Ireland for short.

And outside of Dublin city, there are no postcodes. They are not necessary.
