Yes they are ther is a green post box ouside NUIG in galway that has VR or victoria regina , it was a red postbox but after independence it was painted green. The oldest post box in the UK and ireland was accross from the kings head in shop street in galway, it has since dissappeared or was moved.

They're green in the Republic, not in Northern Ireland.

there was a tv programme on not so long ago, think it was on rte1 that said when the UK ruled the Republic of Ireland the postboxes were red but then when it became a republic, rather than take down the old ones and put up new ones they just painted over all the boxes green, and that if you stand close enough to a postbox anywhere in Ireland today you'll see the royal crown thing still on them.

Yes. In NI they are still red as it's still the UK. I only ever noticed the change when I was in Northern ireland and they suddenly were red instead.

Black the letter boxes of the houses or whatever the owners want, but mainly green
