Are there still no snakes in Ireland ? Serious question?

I know supposedly St Patrick drove the snakes over a cliff and rid Ireland of snakes. Is this so today ? Thank - you ahead of time ~

In the years after the Ice Age, ireland became an island--originally it was attached to the rest of Europe. there were no snakes living on that area of that land at the time of the seperation, hence no snakes. Britain got 'em, though (luckily only one poisonous one-the adder.)

"Along with many other snakes that Ireland populates"

To the previous answer...

ps... snakes populate a country...a country doesn't populate snakes....LOL

To answer the question, there are no snakes in Ireland other than those held in captivity.

No, there are no snakes here, the common lizard is the only reptile native to Ireland. The St Patrick thing is a myth.

Irish cutie!!
not out in the wild!! But there are a few pet ones!!!

slipstreamer
There never were any to start with.

Seriously.

We have lizardy thingies, I found one once, can't remember the name of it but it had no legs, so I thought it was a snake, but it was actually a lizard.. But no wild snakes, no. The habitat isn't right..

There are no indiginous snakes in Ireland because Ireland was an island after the Ice Age before it was warm enough for snakes to travel accross the sea was in the way.

No snakes indigenous to Ireland.
Only snakes in the country are pets or in the zoo.
