I remember watching something on Ireland, and this old lad had a bagpipe, but he called it a Jersey pipe. I searched to see about it, but i guessed he called it wrong (or I just heard it wrong). P...

Are they strict about checking ID's at pub's in Ireland?
I'm traveling to Ireland in the summer and I am 17. I was wondering if they are strict about enforcing the drinking age there. thanks!
It depends where you go. If you go into the more fashionable pubs in Cork/Dublin/Galway you will probably be asked for ID. If you are in a country town/village it is unlikely you'll be asked for ID as they tend to have a more relaxed attitude.

yes they are if u look younger than 18 or are not a local face around the pubs n clubs then the bouncers will ask to see ur national age card or passport before allowing u in.

If you're staying in Dublin, espically Dublin city centre, then most definitly. Im 23, I've legally been able to drink alcohol for 6 year and I wouldnt dare go into the city centre without I.D. If you're staying outside of Dublin, the likes of a local country pub or club, you more than likely will get in. Im going to presume that pubs and clubs in the other cities(i.e Galway, Cork, Limerick etc will be the same as Dublin). Generally, if your not in a big town then you should have no problem. Enjoy your trip!!

They are strict in cities, not that strict in rural areas. If you get good fake ID, you'll be ok.

depends if you look under 18 they will ID you
they will ID you no matter what in most of the big clubs in Dublin, Limerick, Galway and Cork because thats what they do, pubs are not as strict especially in the smaller towns

Yes because people dont want to see a drunken teenage when they are out especially when you are after paying to get into a good club. Try the radisson if you are in Galway, they dont seem to care what age you are.

In my experience the only ID you need is the cash in your hand!!
