I went there for a Paul Simon concert some years ago. I don't remember much about the town other than the castle and going up a church spire, which was nice, but we did enjoy the trip.

The City of Kilkenny has a great buzz to it, and is great fun during weekends. I'm more familiar with South Kilkenny, the hilly area between Carrick-on-Suir and Waterford. It's pretty.

I went to Ireland by ferry and went straight to Cork where all the beds were booked for the night - I had no idea where to go and so I looked at the map and decided on Kilkenny as it is also my favourite drink - nice place, stayed in the travellers hostel at the one end of the town centre.

I have been in every town of any size in Ireland and certainly every county,I love travelling around the country and do about 1000 miles per week for work.I have customers from Donegal to Cork and all between.
Kilkenny is a nice vibrant historic town with some nice hotels and good night life !
