Not many kennels in Ireland are indoor kennels as we have in England. I searched high and low. I went to see one in Roscommon ( a small one with heated in door rooms), you had to supply the dog food yourself. I thought it was a boring place to leave the dogs so the dogs stayed home with me.
There was another one about 10 miles from Dublin but that was too far for us. I don't know what it was like, their web site was impressive though. Sorry can't remember the name.
What type of dog do you have, and how friendly is it. Which part of Ireland are you looking at.
Edit: Oh, too far from us. Make sure you go and look at the kennels before deciding. I pray someone good will look after her for you. |

Can't help you with kennels I am afraid. But be careful if you do find one. We put our dog in a kennel in Nth Dublin last year and we got a very skinny dog with a rash back after 14 days. (which he still has).
They complained that he was nipping their ankles which is something he does when playing. He never hurts just chases your heels. All food which we left for him disappeared. He had obviously not eaten it. His favourite blanket and toys disappeared. If you can try to get a family member to mind your dog, I would not trust a kennel again. |

There is a great Boarding kennel in Rathangan in Kildare its called Fircroft Kennels. check them out on Fircroft.ie.
I know people have doubts about placing their dogs in kennels and so do I (I've heard some horror stories) but we have left our dog, Pebbles a border collie in Fircroft if we are unlucky to have no-one to dog sit. We have been using them for years and have also left our previous dogs in their care. I still feel guilty about leaving them but honestly this place is great and the dog always comes back looking healthy and happy.
I live in Dublin but they can drive up and collect the dog if you request. (i prefer dropping the dog off myself)
The are a bit more expensive than some of the other kennels but they're worth it for peace of mind |
