Sarah
Actually, the code to get out of Canada is 011, not 00.

If you are calling the Republic, then then replace the initial '0' with 011353 (eg 074 93299 - not actually a real number) will become 011 353 74 93299. The length of the numbers vary so don't worry if it is longer than this.

To call Northern Ireland numbers (which as shown as either 028 or 048 followed by 8 digits), call 0114428 followed by the 8 digit number.

028 numbers with less than 8 digits after them are for part of the Cork area so follow the instructions for Republic of Ireland (above).

OK, so since everyone is giving me the thumbs down, here's a reference:

When calling from North America (US and Canada) you dial 011353865551234
The rest of the world pretty much uses 00 for international dialing.

00353 and then the actual number

when the sun goes down

00353
then the area code such as "01" for dublin but drop the first number
so it becomes "003531"

if its a mobile number then drop the "0" from the 085, 086 etc.

00353 and drop the initial 0 before you dial the rest of the number

agooddub
It's very straightforward.
Dial 00 353 first, that connects you to Ireland.
Then all the local numbers in Ireland start off with an 01 or 021 or 043 prefix etc. The important bit is to drop the initial 0 and continue with the remainder of the local number.
To sum up..... if the number is Dublin 018450000, then dial 0035318450000
