Why not go to the Highest pub in Ireland, Johnnie Foxes in the Dublin mountains. They have live music on most nights and a huge menu. You can actually e-mail the chef if there is something you would like to ask for..! Check out the link the site says more than i ever could, I would recommend this place to anyone visiting dublin..
Enjoy..

It is not easy to get Irish stew - a pal of mine recommends O'Shea's Merchant Hotel on Merchant's Quay. It is very near the famous Brazen Head pub, a good place for trad music sessions. However, you won't find great live sessions in Dublin - you need to travel to the west or south-west of Ireland for those! |

You really need to get out of Dublin for that. It's there, probably in Temple Bar, complete with the Temple Bar prices (bring smelling salts), but I would suggest getting on the train and heading down to Galway or Limerick instead. |

The Hairy Lemon off Grafton Street (near St Stephens green shopping centre) serve stew, as does the Porter house in Parliament street, they also have music on a Friday night, and possible all other nights too.
I think there is a trad music festival on at the minute, so you should have music everywhere, (but I thinks its over this week) For music try The Cobblestones in Smithfield, of the Merchant on the Quays, that pub is in a different time zone, its worth a look.... |

Theres lots of little pubs down the side streets that have irish music and a log fire. Theres a huge pub on the corner before you go in2 the town (sorry I cant remember the name) it has a loud bar/nightclub upstairs and a live band down stairs, they have irish dancers on too, and provide fresh homemade broth, sorry I dont know anywhere that does the stew. |

You cant beat Gallaghers Boxty House in Temple Bar for the best homemade Irish stew and lots of other tasty delights, you must finish it off with bread&butter pudding with rum&raisin ice-cream with a shot of rum!! mmmmm delicious.
Live music in most pubs nearby too. |

The guinness Stew in the Guinness Storehouse (at the top, at the end of the tour) is excellent. Brought 3 foreign friends there and they loved it. |

HOWTH The cleanest food in the whole country, but very expensive
I remember we paid 100euro for 4 people, with the half you can eat in the city center but what I really believe "You always get what you pay"
Live pub in the country side mostly. In Dublin the most of the music is nasty brit pop all the same 3 chords, but I guess there would be trad pubs for the Irish |

stay out of dublin its a rip off ,and the musicians in the sessions are only putting in their time to get paid .the good spontanious sessions are in the country towns and can only be found if you ask a local for direction , go north up around the border areas Monaghan and south Armagh. thats where the music is . as to irish stew make your own ,the stuff you ll buy out is not even made with lamb .if you get beef in stew its not irish. |
