Yes you can use a driving licence if it has a photo.
EDIT: A couple of muppets who don't know what they are talking about below have you given you the wrong information. You do NOT need a passport to travel between England and Ireland. Most forms of photo ID are valid. |

I got through with a driver's licence before.. I forgot my passport but has my licence and it was enough.
Ring the airline/airport... although I think Ryanair now require a passport to verify that it is your ticket (not entirely sure though) |

Northern Ireland you need photographic ID, doesn't have to be a passport! As it's still Great Britain, same country!
well for travelling purposes anyway!!
But for Southern Ireland you would need a passport, as it's another country! |

Yes it still applies as long as it has an up to date photo and is valid (i.e hasn't expired) you should have no probs at all, i've done it loads! |

I guess you can´t travel to England from Ireland like that. You maybe need a valid passport. Your ID isn´t enough. |
