Snow queen

Can i fly to Ireland from the England with just a photo ID??

My passport is a couple of months out of date and i want to go to Ireland. Last time i went, my friend forgot her passport but her photo ID was enough to get her through (driving license). Does this still apply?? Thanks. xX

Went form England - Dublin twice last year and my driving licence was all that was required.

Have a lovely time in Ireland?

Which part are you going to? I'm so nosey.

Keery
To put it simply - Yes!

massadaman
Yes you can use a driving licence if it has a photo.

EDIT: A couple of muppets who don't know what they are talking about below have you given you the wrong information. You do NOT need a passport to travel between England and Ireland. Most forms of photo ID are valid.

lindy
yes you can fly with your driving license my husband has just come back from galway and used his.

I got through with a driver's licence before.. I forgot my passport but has my licence and it was enough.

Ring the airline/airport... although I think Ryanair now require a passport to verify that it is your ticket (not entirely sure though)

Chris S
yes, a couple of years ago a work colleague and i were flying to dublin from glasgow and he got on board with his library card!

Geeza Sooka Yerlips
You can also use an oil painting as long as it`s been signed by a magistrate.

It depends on the airline you are using. Check with them.

Northern Ireland you need photographic ID, doesn't have to be a passport! As it's still Great Britain, same country!
well for travelling purposes anyway!!
But for Southern Ireland you would need a passport, as it's another country!

Yes it still applies as long as it has an up to date photo and is valid (i.e hasn't expired) you should have no probs at all, i've done it loads!

I guess you can´t travel to England from Ireland like that. You maybe need a valid passport. Your ID isn´t enough.
