Can you believe this? |
A friend of mine told me a story.
He has 2 friends that are fluent in Irish, and they were walking down the street having a conversation in Irish and an Irish man comes up to them and says " Go back to your own country will ya ", like they were foreigners.
How stupid can some people get?!
I dunno what they said back because the conversation i was having with my friend kinda got interrupted.
Anyway what do you think? |

i take it so that you haven't seen the irish film, in which a chinese guy, who speaks fluent irish comes to ireland and realizes no one speaks irish and strikes up a conversation in irish with an old man in a pub, with the barman then saying "jesus, i never knew mick could speak chinese!". i think it's refreshing that some people are still trying to keep the language alive- it's a pity that more people aren't doing so! |

Ah sure some people wouldn't recognise iriish if their life depended on it! Just shows where our cultures going!
The Irish language should be taught as a spoken language though because all this learning about themes in poetry in irish is pure shite and it just makes ppl resent the language! Its sad! :-( |

That is horrible. It just shows how ignorant some people are. They act all, "I love Ireland and hate everyone else outside Ireland", yet they do not even know what the Irish language sounds like.
Ignorance is bliss.
Of course it is the minority that give this bad name.
Your poor friends.
And I believe nearly anything these days. |

:( i hate those stories i wish people would take an interest in their native language-
"tir gan teanga, tir gan anam"
it's like that film Yu Ming Is Ainm Dom... |
|

Don't tell my boss I'm on here
 |
That is ridiculous.
Anyone would recognise if someone was speaking French, Spanish or German, but someone failed to recognise one of the official languages of his own country?
You gotta feel sorry for the guy though. One, he is racist (assuming your friends had actually been foreigners) and secondly, he's an idiot.
I hope they corrected him. |
