Can you drink the water in Ireland? Eat fresh vegetables?

Swim in the local waters? Trust the local medical personnel?

Ireland, like most European countries, is perfectly safe. As far as the vegetables, you would be wise to wash them first. But, of course, it is wise to do the same in the US.

Are you serious? You do mean Ireland, not Botswana?

lynno
excuse me this is IRELAND you are talking about, it is the land of home grown produce far healthier than england. just you wait and see.

creakyhunter
You can eat the veggies and drink the water in Ireland. But don't pass up the beer!! :)

alan m
Of course you can drink the water. What else would you do with! Can you eat freshvegetables. Of course not. Go for the very old decayed ones.

salus
No to all your questions. Unless you are exempt from the exclusion list of undesirables attempting to venture to this the Emerald Isle.

pattymick
Of course you can drink the water.Veg is the best you can get.Swim if it's the summer or you don't mind the cold. And if you like to drink Guiness there is no better place.Just come on over and enjoy it.

There was a scare recently in Galway about contaminated water so people had to buy bottled water. I think that's been resolved now, but a few people died from it. However, normally, Ireland is totally safe water, vegetables, local waters (although the Atlantic west can get rough) and the medical personnel are just as modern as any other western country.

You have NO worries at all. I go there every month as my b/f is from there.

Yes, yes, yes and yes.

Although swimming in local waters might cause other health issues because they're pretty cold at this time of year!

Yeah of course!!

Though the lakes and stuff will be cold!!

I wouldn't drink tap water in the Galway/Athernry area but if you go there just ask the locals.

rachel
Yep, its all perfectly safe in Ireland, alot like Britain x

Drink water? Yes. There was contaminated water in the Galway city region recently, so if you're in County Galway, ask locals for advice, although I'm pretty sure the issue has been resolved! Eat fresh vegetables? Of course! Like anywhere else, just give them a quick wash under the tap first, but otherwise it's perfectly OK. Swim in the local waters? Yes, although it will be cold. The only things you have to look out for are crabs or jellyfish, otherwise it' perfectly OK. Look out for reeds or similar growth though, cos it is dangerous to get tangled in that. But again, that applies to anywhere you're swimming! Trust the local medical personnel?! Of course! No problems there at al!
