I think renting a car is definitely a great idea... Check out BookMe dot com. You can compare ALL the reputable car rental sites, and save money. Good luck!

easycar (like easyjet) might be a good bet - I'm not sure if they are based at the airport but if you look at their website it will tell you. Hope you get sorted and enjoy your stay.

If you are staying in Dublin, I strongly advise NOT to rent a car. Parking it is extortionate, if you park in the wrong place, it will be clamped within minutes, and the release fee is even more extortionate.

If you are just going to other parts of Ireland, yes, a car is very useful. Try Budget rent a car, or Argus. Alternatively, you could look for one in the Irish telephone directory: www.goldenpages.ie. I don't know if there is a big difference between picking up your rental car in Dublin city or the airport, but knowing traffic in Dublin, I think it would be LOT easier just to get it from the airport.

When you get off the plane, come out of the airport and a man will meet you in the carpark called Pat. Give him £900 and he will give you the keys to the rental car.................if he stinks of booze then don't rattle him.
Good luck
