I don't have any Cork friends but I remember my German teacher was from Cork and we couldn't tell if she was talking German or Corkish!

= )

I should be doing something else
Nope. I live just outside Belfast and everyone I know up here including me loves the Cork accent, I actually think it is the nicest Irish accent. When I'm speaking to someone from Cork on the phone I need to listen carefully but have no problems speaking face to face. Its such a friendly accent just like the people from Cork. I'm movin to Cork!! =]

I think it is very hard to understand because at the end of your sentence you go really high or something! it was funny because me and a friend went to stay with a cork family and we couldn't understand a word cos they spoke to fast!! we just nodded every now and agen!! ha funny times!! and they said our accent was really nice!!(wexford accent) but when i go to dublin i get slaggin 2 because they say im a bogger!! but what can they say with there nacker accent!!!

I have real problems understanding some of the Cork city ones. My sister lives there, and since I've been there a few times I'm getting more used to it, but it is pretty different from what I'm used to!

I'm from Wexford and live in Dublin, and I get awful slagging too. They can't understand anyone that isn't a jackeen!

annah
nahhhhh i've lived in cork a while 8 years and i love the accent...wen i go 2 dublin i get a slaggin for sayin car...

I have problem understanding people with a very strong accent sometimes... but I'm Italian! And from a foreigner's point of view, any strong accent, Cork, Dublin or wherever, sounds like a farmer's accent to me!
