Could I get the place of birth on my driving licence changed?

I was born in Derry City, but lived in the south most of my life. I recently passed the theory test and got my first learner permit. For 'place of birth' it says 'United Kingdom'. If I take this up with the Motor Tax Office that issued the permit, do you think it would be possible to have it changed to 'Derry', 'Doire', 'Northern Ireland' or something similar?

If you were born in the north they will only put Uk because thats whats on your birth cert. They only go by your birth cert. I know becuase the surname on my birth cert is wrong (wrong fathers name) and so my drivers license came back with the surname Baxter which isnt the surname i ever used except for the first 2 months of my life then i switched to my real fathers surname. I have my real surname on my passport and i went to the motor tax office with my passport and they said all that matters is your birth cert.

Fcuk that Frog eyes answerer.

DĂłire abĂş!

Yeah I'm sure you can but while you're at it get your name (and surname) in Irish as well.

You are Irish, despite what Frog Eyes says.

Born Irish,
Live Irish,
Stay Irish,
Die Irish.

I dont think you can. They only put the country of birth and they decide what country to put based on your birth cert. You cant get them to put the county and if you have a UK birth cert they wont change it.

elle.gunn
you could take it up with the MTO dont think it will be a problem, if it says londonderry your a subject of britain

Ralph G
as of the good friday agreement, if you were born on the island of ireland, you are entitled to being an irish citizen, so i reckon you would be able to change it.

frog eyes reported for racism.
