Debit and Credit Cards, ATM Machines in Southern Ireland?

I am going to travel around Ireland for about 6 weeks can I use my normal Master Card to get cash?

Orla C
Yes, of course. Most machines take it. You could probably use it in rural post offices as well, check it out at www.anpost.ie.

And have a great six weeks.

stitcherkf
First of all it's not Southern Ireland, it is the Republic of Ireland.

Yes of course you can use your master card. Most cash machines will accept it. However, you should be aware that you will be charged every time you withdraw money using your master card. Try to reduce the number of withdrawals and don't withdraw small amounts as it will cost you the same fee. Far better to use it to pay for things especially if it is the only form of payment you have.

We don't have pigs in the kitchen either!!!!!!!

As long as the ATM carries a mastercard symbol then yes.
Don't forget though that pulling money out against a mastercard(creditcard) will encur charges every time you do so.

No such country as 'Southern Ireland'.

You would be mad to use a credit card to get cash as interest starts being charged from the moment you withdraw cash - unless you mean putting money on your card and just withdrawing that, in which case interest does not apply.

Yes no problems both debit cards and Credit cards will work fine.

Rosie Posie
yes u can, enjoy your stay

Travelguy13
Sure, no problem, but don't try to use your abnormal card! While you can do this it is an expensive way to go. Better to use an ATM card if you can keep enough money in your checking account.

Hi
Yes ! (Some of the smaller towns may not have ATM's, you might need get cash out at reception of your hotel), but worst case senario, there's bound to be an ATM in the next town !

ive lived in dublin the last 4 yrs, mastercard is widely accepted, how ever please be careful, there are huge frauds going on at the mo,so please take note :chip and pin is only just here so althiugh its compulsery to use it alot of shops handsets to enter the pin dont work so they over ride it,carry ure passport or some photo id as they will scan ure card then refuse it make sureyou complete the transaction, also as in the uk when withdrawing money cover the number pad with your hand as alot of incidents are happening with scanning your card and using the built in camera they take your pin and take the money.saying that i and no one i know has had problems but it is often in the news, enjoy ure stay and if u come to dublin email me and ill tell u where to go depending on what ure into
