Did you know there is over 22,000 Taxi Drivers in Dublin and just over 13,000 in New York?

I was told this by a Dublin Taxi Driver.

Yes, You told me this a few months ago in an email hehehe

I think the wee fellow was pulling your leg.

I think that's because they limit the amount of Taxi medallions in New York and Dublin doesn't have a limit. It's a control thing. The less cabs there are the more each cab can make. Cab owners in New York don't want more cabs, because there would be less money for them.

For many many Years The Taxi Drivers had it made in Dublin and they made a Fortune out of the Taxi Business. If you wanted to Buy A Taxi Plate it cost a Fortune because there was only so many Taxi's Allowed.

Then because of Complaints from the Public of not enough Taxi's The Government Deregulated it ,with the Result that there is now a Glut of Taxi's and the Taxi Men Losing a Fortune. They had it so good the Old Hacks but Alas those Days are all gone now.

It is a Pity they dont bring down their Fares however it is a Rip off in Ireland like most things.

Yep I knew that. I'm sick of hearing about taxi drivers tho there always looking for more money, less hours they should be glad that they have a job!

If I can say that the Dublin taxi driver might be kidding with you because he may not like new york and to say that to you that his country is better than new york.
