I am planning a trip to Ireland and I want to rent a car instead of going on a bus tour becuase I want to stop when I want to stop and see what I want to see. Anyway, I've heard scarey stories ...
We hate to say we told you so, but we told the Deise people that they'd be mauled alive by the cats.
Still we'll give ye 10 points for this question and ye might be able to add it to ...
I understand that religion plays a small part in the tensions between northern and southern Ireland. If I were to visit Belfast, would I have any problems there being that I’m Catholic? It lookes ...
When I think of Ireland I think of lush green grass and rocks and stuff, haha. But what is it like? Do houses have electricity and electronics? Explain!...
No but you will need photo ID. NB if you are travelling with Ryanair you need a passport. Aer lingus only require photo ID. By boat only photo ID is needed.

Your nationality?
A common travel area is in existence between Ireland and the UK (including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man).
The Common Travel Area means that there are no passport controls in operation for Irish and UK citizens travelling between the two countries.
You must, however, carry an acceptable form of photo-identification:
A - driver's licence
B - national ID card
C - Garda ID

Yes. It is for identification purposes only though and although you wont require it for leaving the country, you will most likely have to show it as a form of id when returning. My husband is an hgv driver and has occasional work in Ireland. He didn't take his passport on one occasion and they wouldn't let him back through the docks to start his return journey home. I had to fax over a copy to the docks office before they would let him move. Take it with you just to be 100% certain that you're getting back into the country and not encountering problems.
It's all very well giving me 2 thumbs downs - I'm telling you what happened by personal experience.
