Bacon, cabbage & spuds.
No, we don't drink as much as people think we do although the underage drinkers do subscribe to the myth & are trying to make up the difference for their elders.
We have a 'democracy'.
The predominant religion is Roman Catholicism but there are Protestant religions, Church of Ireland, Methodists, Baptists, etc and a growing number of Russian & Polish Orthodox and Muslims.
St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland, he brought Christianity to Ireland and it's a national holiday in the Republic of Ireland.
It's up to you if you want to move to the Republic of Ireland but if you don't have a parent or grandparent who was either Irish or British, you will need to look into acquiring a visa.

Food? Obviously the potato features a good bit in our meals, Irish Stew, Soda Bread, Potato Bread, Wheaten, Dublin bay prawns and salmon, Colcannon - but of course we have access to practically every dish from across the world, I am a big fan of Indian and Mexican particularly, so you will find pretty much anything you like here.
The 'drunk Irish' is a stereotype. I love a couple of glasses of wine on a Friday or Saturday night as do most of us but contrary to popular belief we do not spend every night in the bar.
As another answerer said, we have a democracy in Ireland.
The most common religion is Catholocism, followed by Protestant, and the smaller ones would be Islam, Buddhism, Orthdox, Hindu, Jewish, Mormon and Atheist.
St Patrick is the patron Saint of Ireland. Saint Patrick brought Christianity to Ireland and according to legend, banished snaked from Ireland (no snakes live in the wild in Ireland)
Other info - Ireland is the third largest island in Europe, with a population of over 6 million.
Even if you decide not to move here, we are definitely worth a visit, good luck =] |

We're famous for potatoes over here for food, and coddle too I suppose (horrible stuff!!). The restaurants and bars are pretty good.
We have a democracy.
The most common religion would be Catholicism, but with all the immigration, there are lots of different religions here now.
Patrick's Day is so special because it's the day we celebrate being Irish!!
I think Ireland is great, I have a few American friends who love it over here :-) |

You should visit before considering moving - it's a lovely place - but why move to somewhere you know so little about? Negative Irish stereotypes are just as accurate as the ones about Americans - meaning that they aren't accurate at all really.
They have the same food as in the US really, better beer and rainy weather. Main religion is Roman Catholic, but there are muslims and other faiths as well.
Go visit. |

Viva La Eire!

We don't drink as much as we are known for, the english are much more 'fond' of there drink then we are, we also don't beat our wife's or live in some kind of backward society stuck in the 1900's!
Catholicism is most popular but we have a very diverse population.
Its really not too different then nay other modern country, it wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb in a line up!ha! |
