And where do you come from?

As far as I know the UK adapters are the same as Malaysia, Singapore.

American adapter is the same as Taiwan.

All the western Europeans' adapters are the same except UK.

The Australian adapter is different to all the countries I have mentioned above.

The rest I don't know.

Unless you are from UK or SG or M'sia or any other countries that have the same plug and voltage yes you would need one!

We use a three pin plug as does The U.K, Most of Europe use two pin plugs where as in North America its a two prong plug, so provided you're coming from somewhere that doesnt use the three pin plug then yeah you'll need an adapter but make sure its the Three pin and not the Standard European two pin. Check out:

If you are from The States, just pick up a couple in Target or Walmart, they're pretty cheap there.

Hope this helps.

YES - you'll need an adapter to change your american plug into an irish plug - you can get them in the airport before you go.

be careful though because european devices and US devices use different amounts of current (electricity) and if you put too much current into a device thats not capable of taking it, then it'll blow.

most electronic gadgets (ie, ipod, cell phones, computers) can be used (and charged) in the states and europe. To be absolutely sure for your particular gadget, check the bottom or back near where the power supply enters (or on the plug itself, that's where it is on my phone.) It should say INPUT, OUTPUT, MODEL, blah blah blah. Where it says INPUT, make sure the numbers go up to at least 240. (for example, on my computer, phone, and ipod it says INPUT: 100-240/VAC)

The reason is, in the states, the voltage [into your device] is 110 volts. In Europe it's 240 volts. Electronic things can pretty much handle both. You run into problems when what your using has a motor or heating element (ie. printer, hairdryer, curling iron, etc...) If you want to use that stuff, you need a "step down converter" which will take the 240 volts out of a European socket and 'step it down' to 110 volts so as not to fry your hair dryer.

When i moved to Europe, I refused to give up my electronics, so i still use my computer and ipod here, but my printer has a power converter.
When my best friend came, she was terrified to plug her blackberry into the wall, but she did and was a-okay.

You will of course need adaptors as your plugs are different than Irish plugs.

You need a 3-prong plug with square prongs, I don't know where you're from but in Europe we use 220 volts, so you might need a transformer as well.

You don't say which country you are coming from - but airport shops and the tourist information point/centre in Dublin will have any adapters you will need.
