Where are you from?
If you're from the UK, you don't need a passport, just a driving licence if you're coming by ferry or overland from NI. If you are flying, you will need a passport as the airline companies mostly require a passport as ID.
If you're coming from the EU, a passport or National ID card is required.
If you're coming from anywhere else, yes, you must have a passport. |

if your from the UK, no you don't need a passport.
Anywhere else it is advisable to have one, no matter what the travel agent tells you |

Depends where you are from, within Europe you should technically be able to travel anywhere with valid photographic ID other than a passport, although its not advised. |

If you are from southern Ireland then No. If fronm Northern Ireland then yes as you are travelling into a foreign country from the uk as N. Ireland is British. Outside Uk of course you need a passport as southern Ireland will be seen as a foreign country. |
