Yes if flying from Republic of Ireland, no if from Northern Ireland. However you need official photographic id, so most people use their passport

no you dont

emily
Yeah take one, I had mine checked going one way but not the other when I travelled from England to Ireland.

Dan S
no just a form of identification

Dan G
You will need formal identification, such as a driver's licence, a student card or a passport.

I bused from london to dublin and had passports checked both ways ( we went via ferry from Wales)...take it!!!!

thenewbyzantanist
Yes if you are flying with Ryanair but technically a drivers license should do. I think they are re-introducing the need for a passport if you travel from mainland britain to the R.O.I. to combat international terrorism. You won't need a passport for visiting Northern Ireland though

Nope, they have a travel agreement which means an Irish citizen wont need their passport.

Hope this helps!

Depending on which way you travel? if you fly you will obviously need a passport but ny any other way you will need photo ID, your driving license should do!!

No, you don't need a passport but you do need to provide a recognised form of photo ID. The airline will usually specify which forms of photo ID they will accept in their terms & conditions.

poppy
No but you MUST bring some other form of acceptable identification such as a student card from a college or a drivers license

greenorlagh
No - but it would be handy as a form of ID
