I think you might get a mixture of answers.....

Sshhhh! It's Podge and Rodge
Stones. We leave the metric stuff to the French.

agooddub
The country went metric several years ago.
Weights and measures are all officially in metric, however the maternity hospitals continue to announce new births in pounds and ounces.
So, I guess we still weigh ourselves in Stones and Pounds.

We think in Stones and Pounds, therefore it is more comfortable to use them.We automatically can Weigh a Person by looking at them once we use Stones.

On Official occasions they sometimes prefer to weigh you in Kilo's, When I was in Hospital Eight Years ago ,The Mater in Eccles Street Dublin they weighted me in Kilo's. I said to the Nurse AH that is 11 1/2 Stone. She said what ,there is no Stones on this Scale but I said there is you can see them there.
I said to her I think in Stones,we have not got round to thinking in Metric yet. That is alright for Small things like a Kilo of Meat or Sugar but not for Heavy Things. I had lost 4 1/2 Stone by not eating or Drinking because of the Illness I had,Gall Bladder trouble.
So Officially were Metric for I think it is 10 Years,it is hard to change the habits of a Lifetime. Young People will be more inclined to think in Metric than People over 30.

I think most people still do it in stones but more of the younger people are now using kilos.

Ya most people still use stones but in schools people are being taught 2 use kilos, but its stil stones i'd say that are more in use.
