We don't mind the people, just don't like the government, and how they see NI as some economically draining, war-torn dump and lot of the time...

It varies depending on the individual and their political leanings. Some Northern Irish people consider themselves British, others would be highly offended if they were referred to as anything other than Irish. Bit of a tricky subject.

It depends on the individual people really but generally things have gotten better, fewer people give a crap either way

Just a month ago I was at my cousins wedding, he's from the North and the bride was from England, for added complications the wedding was held in the Republic, and there wasn't a bother from any side!

Most people in Northern Ireland consider themselves to be Irish, Northern Irish, or British, nationality wise.

Generally people either like the British because they consider themselves to be British, or they just like them for their own reasons. There are a few who do have problems sadly.

Strange question. Its like asking do English people like British people. Northern Ireland is British so of course they like themselves !!!

Doc
I've heard it said (although I think it's meant to be pretty much tongue-in-cheek) that the people of the North love the British but don't trust the English; and in the Republic, they love the English but don't trust the British!

It depends on the people. Most people really couldn't give a rats ar5e. I'm technically from the North, since I was born in Derry - but have lived over the border in County Donegal all of my life, and I certainly wouldn't have a problem with you. I would consider you just a normal person who by chance happened to be born in England, Scotland or Wales. If you were a neighbour of mine, there is a good chance we would become friends.

A few people do have problems with the British as a leftover from the conflict, which is sad. Although I do have problems with a few UK politicians past and present, and the way some British soldiers acted in the past, I have no issues with the "ordinary folk". You aren't Maggie Thatcher and you didn't shoot anyone on Bloody Sunday after all.

I'm not anti-British, I also have big problems with the way some of the Irish acted during this period.

Just avoid certain areas, don't push politics, and you'll be just fine.

when I was there a couple years ago, my family (in northern ireland) had nothing good to say about the British.
So they are not the best of friends.
