Depends on where you're travelling from and how you're travelling here.

You can drive here from Northern Ireland and do not need a passport. You can get the ferry from Britain and do not need a pasport. If flying, some of the airlines require a passport as ID.

if from europe no. anywhere else yes but its worth it

If you are in the UK no officially you don't but you do need something like a driving license.
You will find more problems getting back into the UK than leaving the UK from what others have told me.

Hope this helps. :-)

Found this on the site below.
Passports
Do I need a passport to travel to Dublin, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Jersey?
A passport is not required if you are travelling within the UK or Ireland, however you will be required to present photo identification which can be in the form of a passport or photographic driving licence at check-in.

You will soon need a passport to travel from anywhere in the US to anywhere outside the US. Of course you need a passport to travel to Ireland.

These questions would be easier to answer is people stated their nationality and where they are coming from. If you are an EU citizen from a country which uses ID cards, technically you only need an ID card. If you are not an EU citizen but have a visa for the UK, this will get you into Ireland. If you are coming from another country you will need a visa, but may be able to get it at the airport. Check your nearest Irish embassy or consulate, or look online.

Yes you do. Though they may not pay much attention to it at the smaller airports.

earthangel_ghost
Most likly. I know internal flight only require any form of legal photo ID, but outside a country a passport is normally required.

Bring a passport everywhere to avoid unnecessary bullshi*.

Helen
it depends how you are getting there. if its from england - you can travel anywher in the EU without a passport (as long as you have photo ID)

it is the airlines and shipping companies who request passports as they are less likely to be fake and they are the ones who get fined if they bring illegal immigrants into a company.

I learned this in my law class - i am defiantely sure of this
