Do you call the fella in the red suit Father Christmas or Santa Claus? ?

Is there a north/south divide on this in Ireland? I call him Father Christmas, but I think I'm out of step with my neighbours.

He's just called Santy here in Tipp. We don't have a lot of respect for titles and authority in these parts. He doesn't complain, I think he kinda likes it.

Wolfgirl
Santy in Kilkenny too. When he was really young my little brother used to call him Satan. I was always scared to open the presents in case there had been the same kind of mix up on the Xmas deliveries roster.

The big fat guy, who wears the suit, and forgets half the population, ah, that's Bertie, Bertie Ahern,

Well.... if you're from Grimm's Stories or Lizzy's country .... that is Father Christmas. If you're WASP it's Santa Claus, if you're Irish just say Santa, Santy he's ok with that. He'll bring you presents anyway... depends on redundancy in his company. hi hi

Santa or Santy. You don't really hear Father Christmas being used that often, in the south at least.

In Dublin we just say Santy or Santa. Never heard anyone calling him Father Christmas in this day and age, but if thats what you call him I'm sure he wont mind, once you believe in him :-)
