Do you ever go to mass?

........ or maybe a protestant, Jewish, Mormon or whatever equivalent.

Maybe a daft question, but do you go to mass often? sometimes? weddings and funerals?

I make it to the Saturday vigil usually every 2 or 3 weeks, if I can make going into town for something else coincide with it - but it is about a 4 or 5 mile walk (return trip) from my house so I don't go special unless I've missed quite a few, especially during the winter.

I'll be going tonight, and will have my purse emptied by the collection, the SVP guy outside the door, the scouts collecting to cover the cost of photocopying their 'newsletter' and whoever happens do be doing the church gate collection this week.

I go to the usual weddings, christenings, funerals and anniversary masses (mostly RC but that's what most people are where I live). It works out about once a month. I try to go at Christmas and Easter as well. I'm a total non-believer. I lost my faith in God around the same time as I stopped believing in Santa and the tooth fairy, but I quite like the communal chanting and the spirit of community that go on at Mass. Some of my family really hate my casual attitude to Mass and think I should just stop going rather than treat it as a social occasion, but it's my affair not theirs. Who knows, maybe some Sunday I'll be filled with the Holy Ghost and will return to the fold. If I ever have kids I'll definitely bring them up as Catholics and will probably go to Mass every Sunday then. I'd rather they were brought up in the cult of the majority and felt free to walk from it if they so wished than were brought up with no religion at all and had to go searching for something potentially more sinister when they get older.

I don't mind the collections - our local priest is an excellent community worker and I've no issue with contributing. As for the gate collections - if it's something I support, I'll donate. If not, I don't.

Im not a Christian so I dont go.

I have been to plenty though. Ive been to enough to know the responses because I went as a child just to not be different.

I go to weddings. I dont really think of them as a mass though.

I go to christenings, ( of friends babies, not just random christenings in a weird way).

I dont take communion (obviously).

Thats about it.

Funerals, yeah. But apart from that, no, I'm atheist, so church is somewhere I frequent.

And you shouldn't begrudge giving your money to people who need it more than you. If you care that much, don't give it.

I'm an atheist, but I go to Mass with my family at Christmas, and of course to weddings and funerals. I like the sense of community spirit that goes along with Mass, but I don't believe in the religious aspect of it at all.

Taunte Rez
Yes i go to mass every sunday, and sometimes during the week as well.

marie s

Aoife
Nope. Never been.

Yes I go to church every sunday and also many other times. I go to give thanks to my Heavenly Father for all his Blessings to myself and to others in the world. I also attend services to worship my God, and my Saviour. I do not have all my money taken from me, but I give my donations freely, because I know that many are helped by my Parish, and my church. I am not a member of the Roman Catholic church, but my church works with all the other churches in the area for the glory of God, and to help those in need.

I am Protestant and go to church on most Sundays. My purse is never emptied, however, other than my voluntary donation.

Not really. Only if it's a relative's aniversery or something. My grandparents are pretty religious, my mum is vauglely Catholic, my dad doesn't really seem to care either way and I'm an athiest.

I go for weddings, funerals and anniversary masses and the like but that's it

My family is a mixture of religions, my dads a protestant and my mam is a catholic so it's easier for me to not have any particular religion!

Yes I go to Mass....I go for everything that is important to me.
If I miss Mass I don't worry about going to hell...I do not believe in confession especially to another human being.
No one empties my purse. I give what I want and when i have it. I never feel guilty. I give to the homeless...i volunter my time , so why should anyone make me give money or feel guilty. The Catholic church is Rich. They have given me nothing.....I go to visit the house of God as he visits my house.
