No. You do not need a passport to enter Ireland from the U.K.
However, you do need valid I.D. so a passport would come in very handy. |

There is no passport control when travelling between the UK & the Republic of Ireland. Just imagine the problems it would cause at the land frontier crossings!!!! A passport is, however, a very handy method of identification. Before travelling without one ask yourself this question.."If a British anti-terroist officer asked me to prove I was British in order to re-enter the UK, how would I do it?" |

If you're a citizen of the european union EEC which britian is you will not need one. you will need a valid form of ID such as a drivers license. but if you do have a passposrt you should certainly bring it, it will make things much easier!! |

Nope, technically a drivers license will get you anywhere in the EU. |

Wish I had a $1 for every time I've seen this question on Yahoo Answers. Do you know there's a search facility on this thing???
Anyway - the answer is: NO, you do not need one to enter the country.
However - it's handy to have one as a form of ID
AND
Some airlines require you to have one to travel on their flights - but it's not an Irish or English immigration requirement.
That is the FACTS - ignore some of the rubbish posted earlier. They should call this thing Yahoo Guesses, not Yahoo answers. |
