No, once you're a British Citizen, you dont need a passport, we were'nt even asked for I.D from Dublin to Hollyhead and return, and your dog will also be fine, no pet passport needed, microchipped recommended incase he/she goes astray but not required.
Have a great time over here. |

From England or any other part of Britain - no.
Dogs should be microchipped though before bringing them to Ireland.
You don't need a passport but its easier if you have one. Immigration needs suitable photo id - a driving license is OK but that about it.
Your dog can either stay in the car during the journey or they do have special cages you can put the dog into for a small fee.
I always leave my dog in a locked car with the sliding roof and windows open a bit for ventilation. Remember to leave water in a bowl for your pet.
You are not allowed to take dogs (other than guide dogs) onto the passenger decks or restaurants or cabins of the ferries.

and if i can remember right i think that from the 1st of jan this year the law changed as they waren't going to accept any other form of id other than a passport to get into the country. |

Are you talking about a DOG or a person. About a dog, I haven't got a clue. About a person, depends of your nationality. If you are (continental) Eu citizen, just your ID is ok. If you're UK citizen or from anywhere else, you DO need a passport, actually you need a passport anywhere, even if you're crossing from Newry to Dundalk by bus. |

It depends on the nationality of "you".
If "you" is a UK citizen, then No. If the dog has also come from the UK, there would not be any entry problem to Ireland.
Other nationals would require a passport, as Ireland and UK are not Schengen. |
