Do you think Ireland has a credible political party? |
FF have just shown what a shower of shite they are. In the boom they spent every penny while trying to persuade everyone else to save for a rainy day. Now we are knackerd the fact they are playing Billy Brennan is even more obvious.
FG have some bloody good minds in there, and I think Richard Bruton would make an excellent Taoiseach, but as long as Enda Kenny is the front man they lack credibility to me at least.
The Greens are FF's bidet.
The PDs are FF's broken bidet.
The shinners, well, if their was any substance to their claim to no longer be the 'politcal wing of the IRA', and be committed to peace and so forth now, why did THEY claim the IRA was not involved in a recent murder, but even if this were the case, their only policies seem to be debunk everyone else's policies but not come up with their own. Additional Details Deburca98:
The majority of [Sinn Féin] voters are first time voters ie young people who havent a clue
- so being young makes me clueless?
or 24/7 celtic jersey wearing scangers or people with an IQ below 75(note the jersey brigate fall into both these categories).
I usually wear a Celtic jersey, infact I just got changed out of one because it got soaked in the downpour, and I go to Celtic Park a few times every year, but I have NEVER been involved in any the "FTQ - Ohh ahh up the ra" nonsense, in fact I feel ashamed that a minority of so-called fellow "supporters" have gotten us that reputation.
So I am a "skanger with an IQ below 75."
Please don't tar all young people, or all supporters of a certain team etc with the same brush. Stereotypes are what happen when our scum meet some other scum drunk and loudmouthed on some beach in Benidorm and they have absolutely feck all to do with 99% of the population.
I don't show you disrespect so please return the courtesy. |

Fine Gael and Labour are the only credible alternative to the gobshytes we have now. We agree that Enda Kenny lacks substance and credibility but we'd prefer to have him any day over a Fianna Fail Fuhrer.
The Greens are a shower of spineless idiots. They showed their true colours this week. They gave Brainless Lenihan a STANDING OVATION after his budget speech and there wasn't a peep out of them afterwards until the shyte was hitting the fan. They get their knickers in a twist about esoteric nonsense like global warming yet when it comes to the medical welfare of the elderly of this country, they don't seem to have an opinion. They'll pay for going into bed with Fianna Fail. There are a lot of Green voters out there who resent the fact that their vote was used to prop up a FF government.
We have to give Labour / Fine Gael a chance. It's the only way out of this mess. |

Nothing to add to that, Sarah. You're absolutely right. I've been flirting with the idea of becoming a Labour supporter recently, but our local representative has just come out against the reintroduction of university fees, so I'm afraid that's them out - fees are another one of my bugbears, since they were abolished the number of working class kids attending uni has fallen, not risen. No one left but the independents. Here in Tipp North, that means Michael Lowry, a man who will serve as anyone's professional bidet, for a fee, of course. What a joke.
Where can I find a pro-Europe, pro-immigration, pro-choice, socially and fiscally responsible candidate with a proven track record of sound policy choices and honesty, committed to improving the health services and bringing about total public sector reform and rehabilitation while maintaining the economy's competitive edge?
Anyone?
No, I didn't think so.
Christine - no, sorry, I didn't make myself clear - Labour are AGAINST the re-introduction of fees. This might seem on the surface to be common sense, but studies show that since fees were abolished even fewer kids from poor families have managed to access 3rd level. If Labour were truly committed to social equality, they would be arguing to bring back uni fees while ensuring that the grant thresholds were sufficiently high not to disadvantage anyone but the properly wealthy. |

I usually vote Labour, at least they have some sort of (alleged) political ideal behind them, rather than some out dated stance from the turn of the last century, like the rest of the gobshites. But I'm surprised to hear they want 3rd levels fees re-introduced. Sure lets have the circle of poverty go on for a while longer, lets all look out for short term book balancing rather than longer term intangible goals that would make the whole society richer on so many levels
I'm beginning to wonder if all politics in its current form, in all countries is now outdated. Do the Americans really have any choice come early November? Did we the last time? Even though we have about 10 parties to choose from? I don't think so.
Political beliefs of the left and right are no longer viable (in my mind). So we're left to vote on 'personalities', or one policy parties. No wonder the world is in a jock

Wasn't it Varadkar who wanted to offer migrants money to "go back home"? A policy shared by the BNP, not a party noted for their tolerance or promotion of racial harmony...Varadkar for Taoiseach? The ghost of Jörg Haider lives on... |

You didn't mention Labour? Not saying they are credible but its a hard call, we have to vote for someone next time or spoil the ballot paper. I would never not vote but I truly don't know my **** from my elbow at the moment.
I do think the old un's should shut up now and let us concentrate on getting the 1% levy threshold raised to say 30K instead of 17K or whatever was stated this morning.
If you are aged 80 and have 700 Euro a week coming in, or 1400 as a couple you are "earning" 1000 Euro a week more than me and my b/f get by on and we have 2 kids.

I agree with you on everything and the Shinners too, but I'm still going to vote for them.
I think the only way to put some manners on the rest is for a lot of us to go and vote for a crowd who have, at least in their programme, the interest of the working people at heart.
I never voted for the Greens, they are a crowd of useless gobshites, as they have proved now for all to see.
I hate the idea of Enda Kenny as Taoiseach, I don't like the social policies of FG, but I agree that Richard Bruton would make a good leader of the country.
Unless we stop, as a nation, the parish pump politics that makes every TD a "saviour" and patron of clients like in ancient Rome we will never get a decent gouvernment. |

our goverment credible...? HA!
this country is up **** creek without a paddle beacause of FF!
i understand what your saying completly...... |

Leo Vardakar would be a good Taoiseach, Kenny has to go. Vardakar has The brains and the ambition.
Bruton has a mathematical mind With a social conscience and would make a good minister for finance.Kenny should step aside and hope for a chean comhairle job in the future.
Remember students it was FG and Labour who abolished the Fees, when the country was not as well off as it is now. FF do not like the idea of the middle classes being educated and having wealth as it challenges their policies.
FF are hypocrites, they were formed from anti treaty sinn fein and were the party who wanted to see articles 2 and 3 of the constitution changed in 1998.
Whenever ther is a job for the boys situation ther is a FF man or woman behind it.
They depend on public service votes to keep their coushy pensions and job for life meaning lack of productivity and lack of respect for the private sector.
John Bruton has never been acknowledged for his hard work with northern ireland, when he left office bertie took over and just took brutons work for himself and never gave bruton the credit he deserved, Bruton stayed working on it until the last hours of his last day as Taoiseach. Bertie covered himself in glory a few weeks later but on the back of Brutons work.
Voting for Sinn Fein would be suicide for the country. it would be a nightmare situation, it is generally a waste of a vote anyways because the majority of the electorate don`t want to see SF in power. The majority of their voters are first time voters ie young people who havent a clue, or 24/7 celtic jersey wearing scangers or people with an IQ below 75(note the jersey brigate fall into both these categories).
Fair enough I apologise,i was talking about sinn fein voters and not the general celtic supporters. but i dont believe sinn fein are a credible alternative, they believe that the ownership of private property is theft, they proposed that the corporate tax be raised as part of their pre election manefesto, not nowing that this would mean a lot of companies would leave , then defended it during the lisbon treaty elections and warned that if we said yes europe would raise our corporate tax level from 12 to 21 % , this is on record. They are about as usefull as an ashtray on a motorbike
ABeing young does not make you clueless but when you have a morgage and a job you begin to wonder who can offer the country the best alternative any one who grew up in the eighties knows the nasty side of FF and the fear that they spread, the people who left weekly was terrifying. Telling us to tighten our belts while people had 65% of their wages taken in tax while FF took backhanders, thats is why bertie was hounded out of office as the memory of that period is still there. FF did not give us the boom , even though they like to claim they did it was the tallagh accord that gave us success.
I am an out and out Blueshirt, i believe that Michael collins would have the cabinate shot in a bog in offaly somewhere. |

the government lost there credibility by doing a u turn on there decision ...It was never thought out properly day one and again just hit the old young and low income workers ...fair enough tax the high earners over 50,000 with 1% and over 100,000 with the 2%.
The older generation worked dam hard all their life and its because of this they should be more than intitled to medical cover.
Maybe if the members of government stayed in the country instead of flying all over the place there might be more money in the economy
It doesnt matter who is in government they all turn out to be the same...Labour are not much better
A few years ago they got into power and it was FF they brought in with them
So we just got to grin and bare it |

I think once FF is out the Greens will be succesful, so at the next election, the first one I'll be able to vote at I'm voting (in order) Sinn Fein, Green, Socialist. And yes I know most of you hate Sinn Fein but they're the only party that's truly interested in protecting the national identity which is of monumental importance, we don't want to end up like Britian now do we? And no contrary to popular belief (at least in my school) they don't want an english/unionist holocaust, I've seen Adams and Paisley laughing together. |
