No it is not part of the UK, Kildare is in the Republic of Ireland. You need to weigh the item (packaged) and let the buyer know how much postage is to Ireland before they pay you. You can look this up on the Royal Mail website if you know how much the package weighs or simply go to the Post Office and ask how much it will cost to post.

If you specify "UK only" on your auction then bidders from outside the UK shouldn't be able to bid. Maybe you need to alter the settings to only accept bids from countries that you agree to post to? Next time you list an auction make sure you click on that option, stops unwanted bids. Either that or work out the cost to post to Europe or the Rest of the World and put the price on. You actually exclude a lot of bidders by specifying UK only.
It shouldn't cost too much more but it will be more than UK postage thats for sure, I post items within Ireland, to the UK and the rest of the world, you have to make sure you charge the right amount otherwise you might end up not making any profit at all. |

I should be doing something else

Well if the auction was UK only, it is at your discretion whether or not you send the item at all.
Ireland is not part of the UK and as Froggequene said, once a recorded or special delivery parcel leaves the UK it cannot be tracked, so you could (potentially) be leaving yourself open to problems.
It all depends on what the item is and how much it costs. If it is less than about £50 I would just go ahead and post it because chances are, it will be fine. |

No, I bought stuff on e bay, and the cost of postage to her, ROI, was considerably higher than postage within the UK.
BTW, there is no Kildare 1. It's just Kildare. |

It will go at the same rate as postage for Europe. If you send it as a Small Packet (write on top left hand corner) the rate is often less than for a letter. It is amazing that it costs as much for half a mile over the border from NI (UK postal rates) as for mail to the south of Italy.
http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?mediaId=53800712&catId=400036 gives prices for unrecorded mail to Europe, from 56p upwards depending on weight. Check prices for Small Packets too.
For recorded, click the link on the left for International Signed For. It costs £3.70 more.
By comparison, in UK, to UK addresses first class is 39p upwards, depending on weight, and recorded is 75p more. I have never NOT received an item from UK by ordinary mail, but recorded gives greater peace of mind.
Your full address will be Leixlip, Co. Kildare, Ireland. We don't have postcodes here except in Dublin. I'd imagine that the Kildare 1 arises because ebay insists an address is wrong if it doesn't have a postcode. |

No, Leixlip Co. Kildare is in the republic. |

No, the Republic of Ireland is a separate country
You can do a price check on the Royal Mail website or just take the item to the Post Office & ask them how it will cost to send it to the Republic

You can send items by Registered/Recorded Delivery to Ireland but once the item leaves the UK it can't be tracked. |

Why would it? Does Belgium? France?
It's not part of the UK. The Republic of Ireland is a 'foreign' country to UK. |

The UK has nothing to do with the Republic of Ireland. |

No, it does not. Ireland counts as the EU.
For the rest of you, there is no such place as Southern Ireland. The name of the state is the Republic of Ireland. |
