Not large, but there are a few mosques. Irish Muslims tend to be low-key.
I don't have a problem with people of any religion living in Ireland. In fact, I welcome them - the more, the merrier. Add a little more spice to the mix.

Islam is the third biggest religion in Ireland (after Catholic and Church of Ireland. Though the second most popular answer for this question was "no religion") according to the 2006 census.

Not as large a proportion as the rest of europe, the muslims in Ireland are alot more moderated than some in the U.K. and as long as everthing stays as it is and we don't get any extremists then I have no problem with it

It has a significant amount of Muslims, more concentrated in the large urban areas.
They're very welcome here, as indeed are the many Irish who work and live in Muslim countries.

Very low, about 3-6% I think

I agree, mostly in larger urban areas. I'm sure most are very nice but I cannot understand why some of them complain because they are not allowed to wear the hijab in schools or because there isn't government funding for more Mosques. Surely if we went to live in a Muslim country we would be expected to abide by the laws of the land? In Dubai (I think) an English man and woman were arrested for having sexual relations outside of marriage and were given custodial sentences. Some here seem to loathe our western culture and I have met a couple who are blatantly disrespectful to women which begs the question; why move here? Why not stay in your own country or move to another Muslim country? When in Rome do as the Romans do!
Polilical conundrum...
Not until recently it went from around 2,000 to 20,000 in about 5 years & is still gowing they tend to be concentrated in the cities. Personaly the few I meet are just the same as the Irish but I did meet one or two that seem to "dislike" the Irish culture & not think alot about it's people but that seems to be the minority.
Once they don't try to convert our laws (to Sharia law) like they are trying to do in England I am fine with them.
