Does an Irish citizen need a visa to work/live in France?

I'm going to France for 6-10 months to work and travel, do I need a visa even though I'm an EU citizen?

No, not at all. France and Ireland are both EU members. However you'll have to get yourself the French equivalent of your pps number and totally comply with French employment laws if you want to do it legally.

No, - We are part of the European union, you can live there, work there, and die there!

Orla C
You do not require a visa, but you will be required to register with the local authorities as a foreign national living and working in France, it's more of a formality really, but you will need to do it.

Contact the French Embassy in Ireland to find out what documents you will need to bring with you for this.

Should be ok! Didn't know there was work there! must try it myself!

If you were an Irish citizen you wouldn't have to ask that question, nor would you describe yourself as an EU citizen.

Describing yourself as an American citizen with an Irish passport would be far more accurate.
