Does any one know how old you have to be to get into bars etc in Dublin's Temple bar? ?
I know the drinking age in Ireland is 18 but i went to Dublin a few months ago and im sure most of the places in Temple bar said you had to be 21/23 to get in but im not 100% sure. I was hoping to go the week after my 18th and cant just hop over there to check out the bars first so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Most pubs and nightclubs have minimum age policy, usually you must be at least 23. However under Irish anti-discrimination law you cannot be refused entry on grounds of age. But like anywhere in the world by the time you got round to arguing this with the neanderthal bouncer your holiday would be over.
Don't be put off though, bring your passport showing your age and that you're a nice visiting tourist and the odd flutter of the eyelids will normally get you into most places.
Apart from being a hotspot in Dublin's nightlife it is also a residential area. There has been a number of complaints about the noise and there are legal proceedings pending. As a result of this large groups of roudy (loud and drunk) party-goers Hen Night, Stag Party types, are often refused. So go in small groups, well dressed and there shouldn't be a problem. Finally there are so many places to go in Temple Bar that you shouldn't have a problem finding somewhere. Failing that there are far better places to go just off the Temple Bar area. Try Grafton Street, Georges Street and in between both, they run parallel to each other. Hope you enjoy your stay, Bren.Dublin

If you go to more studenty places you won't have any trouble, likey the Purty Kitchen in Temple Bar.

I went to Ireland when I was 18 and was able to get into most bars. Go and have a great time anyway. You don't need to drink in a pub to have fun in Ireland. God Bless.
