That's kind of like asking who discovered Mesopotamia: Ireland, like the rest of Europe, has been inhabited since prehistory. There was no one discoverer. Actually, tens of thousands of years ago, there was a land bridge that connected Ireland to the rest of Europe, but when the ice caps melted, it was cut off as an island. Prehistoric hunters would have been the first inhabitants, but it's impossible to say that one person discovered it. |

What? The first people to move here were pre Stone Age .... way back when. So it wasn't 'discovered' in the way that America was discovered, at the time the first people came, it was connected to mainland Europe by a land bridge. |

The first people to come to Ireland were known as the mount sandal people. The were hunter gatherers who came by cannoe from Britain and settled in mount Sandal, Co. Antrim. But tey didn't discover a country in the sense that columbous discovered america, well I guess they did but they probably knew that it was there before they went to life there. Asking who discovered Ireland is like saying who discovered Spain or Germany, no one did |
