Podge and Rodge Tribute Band

Does anyone remember Anything Goes?

Sher we used to get up out of bed for it every Saturday morning at 9 o' clock.....
You had 'Make And Do' with Mary Kennedy, even if the shaky hands meant she could never put the pipe cleaners in the egg carton to make a pretend spider.....
Aonghus McNally with his yellow and red trousers were funny for about 10 seconds, while Kathy Parkes was the 'sporty type', we bet she wore 'comfortable shoes'.............
And for the serious rockers there was Dave Heffernan at midday......
Not forgetting Curious George, Dangermouse etc. it was a great show altogether...........
Ah the memories........

lads the best thing RTE ever did was Garda Patrol.twas better than the Bill or Dirty Harry.i bet all them rookies outta templemore who made their debuts on Garda Patrol are all superintendants and detective sergeants by now,and they owe it all to RTE.back then the biggest crimes the boys in blue investigated was the theft of a few milk churns in skibbereen and the occasional altercation outside lennox's chipper on a saturday nite,ah the good old days.lads did ye ever help the gards with their enquiries?.but ye know what?,i still have deep emotional scars over that gobshitte PEIG SAYERS!.I had nightmares into me 30's over the Leavin Cert Irish exam and that b**ch Peig,do ye lads suffer any lastin trauma over the Leavin'?.guess what lads?the christian brothers got it wrong,i did make somethin of meself and the D i got in Irish didnt matter!see ye lads.

No, sadly I missed all those. Now I feel I was a Deprived Child.

Yeah, I used to get up and watch it over a bowl of Rice Krispies. We used to drag our old neighbour out of bed to give us some of his pipecleaners, and our mam used to go mad cos we'd take all the cardboard inserts out of the new rolls of toilet paper making a complete mess.

Look what Mary Fitzgerald is up to now...

And an interview with Aonghus (I had forgotten about his hair...)
http://home.connect.ie/helens/pages2/aongh.html

I don't remember Kathy Parkes at all, but Dave Heffernan did have a sort of cool about him. Didn't Smiley Bolger used on be on with him sometimes?

Ah! was Go2 before your time ask Uncle Bil

But as for the other it went
Sure you not old enough to be avid listener to "Not so Green" with some national treasures and Rte producers and others on the good old steam Radio. See if it is in the archives it would be well worth a dusting.

Speaking of dusting where is your old friend Dustin he is needed for Christmas

afternoon delight! ;o)
is it me or are there alotta questions about ireland toay! yay for us!! :) i vaguely remember make and do, i'm only twenty...

Soul Jacker
Oh dear that does bring back some bad memories, with the exception of Dempsey Den, The Den and Den TV, Teenage Mutant 'Hero' Turtles, (as we in Catholic Ireland were a bit too sensitive to hear the word Ninja) and ThunderCats RTE were pretty rubbish when it came to children's telly.

I much preferred Art attack and the feckin brilliant Live and kicking with Andi Peters and Emma Forbes.

It must have been terrible for those poor sods in the south west who lived too far away from the border to receive anything else than RTE 1 and Network 2.

Fair play to Mary Fitzgerald for using her show to plug her new job! I'm not sure I see the link between 'Make and Do' and public relations but I'm sure there is one!

OMG those were the days that has brought me back. Every child in Ireland got up early to watch Anything Goes, the joys our mothers experienced on receiving a gift we made with the help of Mary Kennedy.
Oh but it tells me if i remember i am getting ever so slightly older.
Ps: Re-runs of Dangermouse on BBC1 these days
