Depends where you are travelling from. The Republic of Ireland has an agreement with the United Kingdom, so you don't need it travelling from one to the other. This is cos both countries were free of rabies, although this is not precisely true anymore, as bats have brought the disease into the UK via the Channel Tunnel.

Anywhere else, you will need a passport to transport him here: he must be vaccinated against rabies, and then tested after 6 months, so this needs to be planned well in advance. Otherwise he would need to go into quarantine for 6 months.

manx girl Isle of Man.
no, they stay in the car on the ferry, from liverpool or heysham, and remember its euros! just drive on drive off, not a problem. we take them from the isle of man to ireland, several dogs at a time for dog shows.

meptastic is correct. I looked at this when we moved there from the US. Since my cat didn't have records to show that it was free of rabies he would have to be held in quarantine for 6 months. There are a few countries that have never had rabies (Ireland and England among them) so pets can travel freely, but if your coming from the US you will need to look into it more carefully.

The laws are changing a lot recently but t t t

Forget it,there is absolutely no way, passport or no passport you will not be allowed to bring a dog into ireland.

I wouldnt even entertain the idea, its a very serious issue here.
.
Of course i dont know everything.

you just need to teach him the accent
and ensure that he knows if he (or she if she's a *****)
is a Protestant or a Roman Catholic
then make sure it doesn't end up breeding with the other sort
there will be all hell to pay if your dog does it with a dog of another religion

no, but bring proof of ownership and vaccination records(just in case he wanders off)

As Ireland was part of the UK and even though now split into North and South there are many border controls which have never been implemented and one is Pet Passports. This is due to the fact that Rabies has been kept out of the UK and Ireland so free movement of pets is still possible.

Pet passports are still required if travelling outwith UK and Ireland.

Lord Wilson Wig bottom the 5th
No he doesn't , but he will need a umbrella and two pairs of Welles.
