Of course!!ha ha ha i find it hillarious that Brits think they have anything to boast about. The country's history is comprised of causing death and destruction. They occupy destroy and tyrannise weaker countries. Find me one nation apart from themselves that like the brits?! And im not having a go, i'm just stating the facts..... |

No. I am Irish and I hate this country. The people were friendly before we got the economic boom. Now everyone is just interested in themselves and interested in having bigger and better than their neighbours. They are also quite unwelcoming to the immigrants and there are alot of racists here. The city is a kip as people throw litter everywhere. It is not the worst but it used to be a much nicer people. |

I do live in Ireland, and by choice, too, but it is most certainly not the best country to live in, if you take public services to the ordinary citizen into account. They are pityful.
From that point of view Switzerland has to be the best country.
I used to live there, too, but I still prefer Ireland, because the people are so phantastic.
So not the best country, but the greatest people.
Pity they are going to vote for bleedin' Fianna Fáil again. |

Yes I think Ireland is perhaps the best country in the world or certainly one of the best,I for one would be more than happy for people like Leo who answered the question never to set foot on Irish soil.
Just look through history to see how the English have and indeed still are treating other countries and nationalities,I only ever hear the English say how great England is ! |

sorry but there is good & bad in Ireland just as there is elsewhere.
A good GDP doesn't necessarily indicate a wonderful place.
It does have a good quality of life if you are wealthy but not if you are on the breadline.
There are some beautiful places as there are in other countries.
Some people are friendly some are not - it is the same the world over.
Capitlism has really taken off in Ireland, there are many greedy people now but many others struggle with debt.
There has been an economic boom largely based on high land prices & the construction industry but this will be coming to an end.
You can have lots of fun still in Ireland especially the "craic" but generally life is what you make it.
Enjoy every day the best you can. |

Actually, it's strictly a personal decision. Since people are different--due to genes, upbringing, culture--everyone has their own likes and dislikes. You can disagree with someone's viewpoint, but to them it's quite valid, as yours is to you. Part of the reason there are disagreements, fights, arguements, wars even, is that too many people are intolerant of others' opinions, beliefs, viewpoints. I've never been to Ireland--unfortunately--but I've been to enough places and seen pictures of many others to know that EVERY place has its beauty, its attractiveness, its good points, even the desert. (The only places I don't like are big cities; unfortunately, I live in one--Los Angeles.) So, if you like Ireland best, fine; just don't get into arguements about it with others--it's pointless. |

I couldn't agree more.Lived there for 13 years( Married a Kerry man).I couldn't have asked for a better country to have my children in and raise them.Had to leave as I had to come home to Australia to look after my sick Nana, otherwise we would still be living there. |

Ireland is the best without any doubt!
Why are the Brits always so jealous of Ireland??
Probably because we are loved and respected all over the world but the same cannot be said of you!!!!
What can you really boast about ???? |

Yes it is. It's something fantastic! I love this country and I'm so proud of it.
Brits-stop trying to take over our section (you're making a habit of it), go back to you're section and stop annoying us.

Hey, you didn't need to ask. The answers obvious. It's Gods own country. I should know, I live here. ;o) And the best city in Ireland? No, not Dublin, not Cork, not even Limrick or Galway, I've been to those. Nope, its lovely Belfast on the banks of the Lagan. Great night life, great city center, great musuems, great resteraunts, great craic. ................All we need, is rid of those pesky interfering brits............ nuff said. |

i agree with cherub i hate it here or at least in dublin. i've lived here my whole life (i'm 21) and it was ok before everyone started drinky tall skinny lattes, buying ugg boots and gucci and buying up the apartments that have ruined my neighbourhood. the people are rude, rascist , selfish, greedy, work is hard to find unless you are business driven and they don't care about their employees and the personality of the country is gone.
i can't find anyway to be happy no matter what direction i take. after college i'm out of here. for tourists-go to the countryside, dublin is a kip and i wouldn't advise anyone to move here.
they only good thing, is that i am lucky to be here than in other countries which are war-torn or poverty stricken. that's it. |

I'm pretty fond of my home country, but I happen to love Ireland. Its absolutely beautiful. The people are great, the atmosphere is just incredible. The weather is kinda crappy, but there's so many other things that make up for it. I can't wait to make return trip. |

Its a beautiful place and the people are friendly, but i wouldnt want to live there. I like where i live in the UK - rural but easy access to London. I'd be bored living in Ireland. |

No.
The English have no need to bang on about how great we are.
Yet it always seems the smaller populated countries, which are clearly way more insecure about themselves, like Ireland and Wales and Canada, always bang on about how great they are. |
