Archery's recommendation is called Johnnie Fox's and it's a good pub to end up in, but maybe not to spend the whole day in:

Suggestion of places to go in Co. Wicklow (there are suggestions for pubs & villages here):

Minibus hire might be cheaper than public transport or taxi if your group has over 7 people:

There are a few companies that will organise day trips for you, with a mini-bus, sightseeing and pub stops. Try these, if you don't want to use them you couls always steal their ideas:

Getting on the train to Portlaoise isn't a bad idea either - just make sure you don't miss your train home, it is Halloween after all and the natives get a bit odd after midnight... |

There's one pub, I cannot remember the name of it. It's about half-an-hour's drive from the centre of Dublin. It is the highest pub in Ireland, so almost anyone in Dublin could tell you the name.
It's got a great restaurant, and loads of rooms. There is of course Irish folk music, pretty nearly every night. The atmosphere is typically Irish.
You would have to go by taxi, and would have to make appropriate arrangements to be picked up at closing time. But I reckon it would be well worth the visit. |

Yeah mate like above, go to johnny fox's pub. its great fun and if your planning on going for a day they have a pitch and put course thats good for a round before the drinking starts. oh and the steak is amazing. |

the pub that archery is tryin to think of is jonny fox's pub. Swords is a great night out but it depends on whaty your looking for as some places are upmarket where other places are dives. malahide is a good night spot but behave yourself, balriggan is all right if your just lookin for a drinkin session and the big nightclub HOME is their aswell |

At the end of the day you're going somewhere simply to consume alcohol? What's that about? |
