We'd rather fly. We use Kilkenny International DJ Carey Airport |

There are a number of ways to get to Killarney but Irish people would go by Naas, Portlaoise, Roscrea Limerick, Newcastle West, Castleisland etc. . You can also go by Portlaoise to Cashel to Limerick and join the above route and that is possibly the most 'scenic'. You can also go Cashel to Tipperary and cut across country for some high land scenery. Look at it on multimap and you'll see what I mean.
Damn! I misread you I thought you said Killarney? For KILKENNY go by Athy and Castledermot |

The easiest route is to take the N7 South (Red Cow Roundabout) and continue until you have to turn off for Carlow, and Kilkenny is the next big place after Carlow.
It's a lovely city, you'll have a really nice time there. |

If you are going by ferry from Holyhead to Dun Laogharie when you come out of the port follow the signs for the M50 ring road North (this might sound daft when you are travelling to the South but it is North of Dublin City not Ireland). Once on the M50 look out for the signs for the N7 Limerick and Cork. Once on the N7 you need to watch for the signs for the N8 Limerick and Cork and this will take you in the direction of Kilkenny. If you are going into Dublin Harbour follow the signs for the N7. Safe Journey. |
