Hi does any1 know anything about getting a job that involves working from home i am in the South of Ireland?
...

Dublin? I have a job offering to move to Dublin and I would like you guys to share your opinion on the city?

I am planning to move to Dublin and I was wondering if working and living there ( and in Ireland in general ) is a good idea. I have never been there, although I know that it is quite a developed country. I need to know about the rents, the price levels and the people there ( are the friendly, are they social ). I will move from Belgium where I could never got used to the quite boring social life ( no offense to the belgians :).

Thanks for any tips and info!

Cheers

it is like living on a rollercoaster, what's good is great. whats bad is dire.

If the job pays very well , like over €55k per annum, you will like it here, because it is so expensive, to rent a room in a shared house starts at €600 per month, up to €2 k for a private place.

I am from Dublin and the best thing about is the social scene, great music, great bars, great theatre and any where I've ever gone, Brussels included, I have enjoyed a night out, but nothing is as good as Dublin. Even if it does cost too much

I love Dublin, but it is so expensive grr
Yes people are generally friendly here :) social life is pretty good lots going on all the time
Check out daft.ie sites like that before you come to check out accommodation prices

Yea you should have a trip over before you come, if your coming for a long time anyway. :)

Sher come on over and join the party. We've been racking our brains to try and come up with a famous Belgian and the only one we can think of is Hercule Poirot, and sher he was fictional!

The rents in Dublin are sky high so you'd be better off looking for somewhere to live outside of the capital, like Leitrim.
Most of the Dublin people are quite social, especially after the few scoops. But sher most of the characters are gone now. Time was when you couldn't spit in a Dublin pub but it would end up on Brendan Behan's or Paddy Kavanagh's face.........

Them were the days right enough.......

Pity you didn't mention what Nationality you are, it would then give me an idea of what you would like. However, We like partying at the weekends, we like going to pubs and clubs and we make friends easily. This Country is the second most expensive Country in Europe so I hope you are coming to a job paying lots and lots of Euros It is difficult to give you cost of living space because they are so varied. If you want to live in a pretty middle class area you could pay say 1600 euros for a small apartment, the best thing to do is get on the internet and check prices in letting agents in Dublin. Good Luck. P.S. I am sure you will come
over to have a look around before you decide, it would be a
good idea.

Amazing night life, people are pretty friendly but it can be difficult to get into their *inner circle*

The city is VERY expensive, but with the recession prices are going down XD

There's lots to do.

Enjoy,

Dublin is expensive, and if you want to get to know some locals, socialise outside of the city centre. Rathmines is a good spot.

To honest, Dubliners tend to prefer to stay in the same little cliques they had for years and years, and it would be very hard for an outside such as yourself to break into these. I think that you should consider any of the other cities for a social life. The only problem is that it might get a bit TOO social and you'd never get any sleep!
