Dublin Ireland M50 road question?
Suppose this will only apply to Irish people but what is your opinion on the road works(extra lane) on the M50.. Do you think it will improve the traffic flow or will the slip roads going off the motorway still clog it up! Additional Details No it is definately the M50 as in motorway not N50.. oh yea my avatar it is a cutey alright... i got it on this site http://www.bored.com/findavatars/index.htm
OK so we all are having a hard time with the works now.... confusion at red cow roundabout,......one hell of a diversion a the liffey valley turn off,,, but i have to hope someone at some stage sat down and actually don the maths/ schematics and worked out that in the long run it will be better for all of us.
However...knowing my country..i highly doubt that
and when it's all eventually finished in the 2000 and never. ''THE MAN'' is just going to decide its still not right and start over with another idea and we'll all be still sitting bumper to bumper ( between 8:00am & 8:00pm) wondering why they just didn't get it right in the first place.....an if they ever will
viaj... :)
I seldom ever drive down the M50 (don't even live in Ireland) but yes I think the slip roads will still get congested.
But anyway I just want to say I love your avatar! Ohhh the dog is so cute!! I feel like petting my screen :)

I don't think it will make much difference. I also think the toll bridge is the main problem. It would be interesting to see if the bridge was open without toll for a couple of hours a day even would there be a difference, I think there would. Personally I have given up using the m50 except for journeys that require going to the end of it. An extra lane would make a difference if they made it compulsory to have at least two people in the car.

I drive on this motorway everyday and it does my head in. It is like a extremely large car park. In my opinion the extra lane will not help the motorway. There is way too much traffic on this road for one lane to solve the congestion problem

It will be just an extra lane to sit in.
I could never undersand how the outside lane of the m50 moved faster than the inside one, as surly more people are merging into outside lane.
Only solution is to get rid of the toll bridge. is so obvious

You mean the N50? Should ease traffic, as the population of Ireland is about 6 times as given! The Irish only understand one speed, and that is 80mph on any road, and to hell with traffic lights! Try any route into Blarney on a weekday pm!
