Dublin Ireland. traveling there this summer. Do i need to rent a Car? Which is a great hotel? |
I need to know what is a great hotel. We have four people. We need a regular sized room (two double beds). What are the amazing sites to see? Do i need to rent a car or is there a taxi or bus service to take? What are the bars like and entertainment? Anyone who has traveled her or lives here please help me out! |

Dublin is a v expensive city and hotel prices reflect that. If money is no object, then the best hotels are the Fitzwilliam, the Clarence and the Conrad. There are a number of cheaper hotels and b&b's as well. You will probably need to rent 2 rooms because there are v few places that will have 2 double beds (i can't even think of one, but maybe the holiday inn?).
Don't rent a car because it is an awkward city to drive around and parking is extortionate. There is a tram system called the LUAS which will help you get to any of the outer parts of Dublin, but most things are fairly central and it is small enough to walk around in.
The pubs are OK, but pints are fairly expensive (shots even more so). The main pub area is the Temple Bar area. St Stephen's green is a nice park in the city with a lovely pond and it is very pretty. There's also Trinity College which holds the Book of Kells and Dublin Castle. You can go on the Guinness Tour as well, but I thought it was a waste of money since it just has lots of pictures of things and smells like burnt popcorn. Have a good time! |

You don't need to rent a car if you're staying in Dublin. Of course there's a bus, taxi and LUAS service (modern tram). (?)
If you're under 18, you won't be let into any nightclubs or pubs after 9pm. Otherwise bars etc. are fine for going out in, if a little expensive.
Dublin is full of hotels, the really good ones in the city centre are booked quickly - maybe not right now, but I suppose you'll find something you can afford on www.hostelworld.com. I would also suggest looking outside of the immediate city centre, you are more likely to get a better deal. |

If money is not a problem The Four Seasons is your man ;) The bars and entertainment are absolutely fabulous after all partying is what we are famous for :D |

No you won't need to rent a car, not if you're only going to be staying around Dublin, there is no shortage of buses, trains and taxis and there's also the Luas. You can just walk to most places in the city centre anyway. |

For Dublin a car is pointless. It's a very small city, easy to get around. There are buses and surface trains as well as taxis.
Bars are fine, clubs too - great party town if that is what you are after.
It's not great, but look into the Christschurch location of Jurys Inn. It's decently located and priced. |
