Dublin, St. Patrick's Day weekend - suggestions?

We will be in Dublin, Ireland during St. Patrick's Day weekend. If you've been to the city before, or lived there, can you recommend the best things to do?

Hello, I live in Dublin. I St Patricks day is my favourite day of the year. Here is a link showing events on that day. You won't be short of pubs to drink in anyway :) Message me if you want to know anything else.

I have been there because I have family there. It is a nice place. There are many bars, public gatherings and parades on St. Patrick's day. If you have kids, you should visit the Dublin zoo. Enjoy your trip! :)

drink lots, and lots of green beer

responsibly of course. ;)

Lucky you, I live here, and its a brilliant weekend. there is something on for 3 whole days. There are parades, cheile, fire work displays etc etc. I noticed one of the girls who have answered has already given you the link, so read that to decide what you want to do and when. They're different events on in the city centre every day. And, I've noticed Ireland will be playing England in the 6 nations rugby, thats always a good day out.

As soon as you get here go to Carrolls shop at O'Connell Bridge/Westmoreland St, for your 'Irish paraphernalia, ie, green white and orange feather boas (I gave mine away to some French man last year), Irish hats, t shirts, badges, blow up shamrocks etc,So on St Paddys day itself I'd watch the parade, then find a pub and stay there and start singing.

At some point in the day remember its supposed to be a religious festival. LOL

go and see the parade

You are going on St Patrick's Day? WOW! Dublin will be a madhouse. Everything will be extremely crowded!

If you are looking to experience St. Patrick's Day like the Irish, then stay home. They acknowledge only tourists visit Ireland at this time.

However, if you are going anyway, St. Patrick's Cathedral is a must. Of course, O'Connell St is where the party will be. Trinity University is a megalith of history. The Guinness Brewery may also pique your taste. To "get away from it all," try a bed-and-breakfast far-far away from Dublin.

Don't expect to get anywhere fast during that weekend. The traffic will be terrible. But if you accept this before you leave, you will have a great time.

Safe travels!
