there is plenty of scenery surrounding dundalk, as the person above me said, like the sea side villages of clogherhead, port and annagassan.
a further 15 or so miles to the south, you have bettystown, with a beautiful beach, and a theme park.
.
to the north, you have carlingford, and the cooley mountains. |

Dundalk is one of the few post-industrial regions on the Republic .so it would have a demography similar to that of say Newcastle, , Glasgow etc in the Britain.
On to that it is a border town and both the North and border areas have been socially impacted by the troubles. One of these impacts seems to be a general toleration of behaviour that would be deemed excessive in less affected areas.
That said, it has many good amenities and , if anything is superior in that sense to most other places the Republic. |

I work in Dundalk - or Fundalk as I call it, the racecourse is OK, although the food could be better, the Marshes shopping is OK, although they should not charge for parking! My friend also lives there, so I visit as well as work there!
Do I live there! Not a chance, nothing personal but I just could not live there!
But if you were visiting from there you have Carlingford, Omeath, and the beautiful breathtaking mountains! |

well it's just that it's not particlarly scenic (it actually looks like a toxic waste dump). There are lots of nice hotels and a massive ice rink there though. |
