Early morning arrival - Dublin?

Hello - I got a great fare from Boston USA to Dublin for a three-day holiday but the plane gets in at 5AM! What the heck is there to do at that hour? Where can I check in early somewhere and not break the bank? Any suggestions for a 5AM arrival would be appreciated. We'd like to stay fairly central. TIA

You could try Jury's Parnell Street, which is bang in the centre of Dublin. They do rooms for about Eur 89 a night and depending on what day you are arriving may be able to facilitate an early check-in. Contact them directly to find out.

By the time you get your bags and travel in to the city centre (a taxi will cost about Eur 16, the bus is Eur6 per person and runs at that time), it will be after 6am. If you can't check in, you'll be able to leave your bags and go for a stroll around the main streets - the Kingfisher cafe is almost directly opposite the hotel and they do a great breakfast. They also do B&B accommodation if you're looking for an even cheaper deal:

Did you get one of the aerlingus deals? I'm going dublin/washington next week - can't wait!

I have had this exact problem. Usually you can leave your bags at the hotel (they will secure them) if it is too early to check in/room is not ready. Then just find a coffee shop/cafe to pass the time and get some more caffeine into your system. Grafton street has tons of places to mill about. The streets are empty and it's a good way to get your bearings.

Don't know of any place that will let you check in that early, sorry.

I have this problem every time I travel to Dublin. It seems like all flights (at least on Aer Lingus, which I usually travel with) arrive during the wee hours of the morning in Ireland. I've done a number of things including paying for an extra night so that I can check in, take a shower, and catch a few hours of rest considering at that point you've usually been traveling for what seems like forever. This is probably best done if you are staying at a hostel, as those are cheaper, obviously, than a hotel. I loved Ashfield house on Dolier Street. It's very close to everything. If you're going to do that though, I'd call the hostel/hotel beforehand just to make sure they won't give away your room or anything. I've also left bags at the hostel/hotel and found a coffee shop to sit in for a while. Not many shops are open at that time, but it can be fun to stroll along the streets before they get too busy during rush hour around 8:00 or so.
