Hello! Im from cork which is only about an hours drive from Killarney so maybe i can help!! Killarney is a lovely area with many attractions such as Muckross House,Ross's Castle and many other!! Its a beautiful place to go and relax and just get away from it all!!
To answer your second question most people get up at around 7:30 because work generally starts at 8:30, luch is usually around 13:00 and dinner is around about 18:00
This website might help: http://www.killarney.ie/ |

The countryside around Killarney is beautiful and worth going there for that reason alone, the town itself is quaint but is very touristy. Go see the place and judge for yourself, just for the scenery alone you won't regret it. |

I lived in Killarney for 14 years, and absolutely loved living there. Most people I know who live there are up by 7.30 am,but if you work in the hotel indrusty you are more than likely up and at work by 7.30am if you are working the morning shift.Breakfast is usually had first thing in the morning, lunch can depend from household to household.Alot of people I know have their main meal between 1pm to 1.30pm and then maybe some soup or a sandwich later on in the evening,Where is some people have something basic at lunch time(sandwich)and then their main meal in the evening, any where between 5pm to 7pm.
There is so much to do and see in Killarney.Killarney has a great night life.Fantastic restaurants, great pubs and pretty good nite clubs.
To get to and from places may be a little hard without a car,but you can always a hire a bike to get to the Muckross gardens, for a swim on the lakes, ross castle.Dero's have daily bus trips that take you to dingle,or around the ring of Kerry. There is also a train station and bus depot in town.
I don't know if your a Spanish student, but just in case you are. Most of the Spanish students I have known.(I use to have 3 to 4 Spanish students stay with me every summer)would go down town in the evening to Birds.Birds is a small fun fair where you can go on a few rides.
If you mean costume as being clothing,People in Killarney seem to wear more casual clothing.(T-shirt and jeans and shorts and T-shirts).I hope I was of some help.If need are wanting any more advice or information feel free to email me.Take care. |

I'm Irish, I live in Wexford.
One of the best places to see Ireland is Donegal. Just drive through it and you'll see how truely Irish it is, without the tourism. The bogs, moors and fields, you might even see some really old tractors, and haystacks, which are long gone in other parts. I like Donegal.
Irish people get up about the same time as in any other country, before work or school.
Irish people are alright, but there are a lot of scumbags, steer clear of the people in tracksuits, or stipy jumpers, or any sportswear.
Good luck! |

I'm from Kilarney
We could get up at 8 or it could be 2 in the afternoon, nothing is really set.We have our breakfast when ever we get up up until about 12, after that, it's brunch.
Lunch is 1-2 p.m. and dinner is between 6 and 8 (depending)
Customs and charteristics: Laid back, hate pavees (you'll find out if you ask), drink mailny beers and spirits, take the piss ( don't get all mad and stuff if people mock or joke about you, it's all in good fun and nothing is ment by it )
I've noticed how people are saying Killarney is not Irish...................It is.
Here's a list of all Irish staffed places:
Pubs: Murphy's, Foleys, Tatler Jacks, The speak easy
Resturants:Paddy's, Cronins
The hotels are fairly bad for having people from other countries who can't even talk the language |

Hola! I do not know how good your English is, so I will try to make this easy to understand.
Killarney town is not very nice - it is a bit 'touristy' (that is, it is about as Irish as Benidorm is Spanish), and full of false Irishness, but the country around it is beautiful. Ask the locals and they will tell you how to get to the following places, which are worth seeing. Muckross house and gardens (a few kilometers outside Killarney), Torc waterfall and Lady's View (a bit further away).
These days Ireland is just as busy as any other European country, so most Irish people get up early to take the kids to a child-minder and travel to work.
I am not married, I have no children and I can go to work any time I like (we call it 'flexi-time', meaning 'flexible' time), so I get up about 9am, I don't eat breakfast, and I start work about 10:30. I have lunch at 2pm - this is my main meal, so I do not have dinner later. I finish work about 7 - 7:30pm.
But most Irish people get up about 7am, start work at 8:30 or 9am, have lunch about 12:30 or 1pm and get home about 6:30pm. |

The Irish are some of the friendliest people you will meet. After a short time in their company, you feel like you've made a friend.
The food is great, and the Guinness tastes better when drunk in Ireland. |

Killarney is too commercialised. Go to Kenmare and Dingle. |
|

Why When How
|
Please please please do not stay in Killarney. It is a horrible town full of big hotels. it is not the beautiful, quaint town it was.
Kenmare is much nicer |

Killarney is a tourist dump, but the area around it is beautiful.
I think that food is a little different in Ireland to Spain. We eat a lot of meat, and I know in Spain people eat a lot of fish. We also eat a lot of potatoes - be prepared!
We eat a bigger breakfast, usually at about 8 am, and a small lunch, usually a sandwich or a salad, at about 1pm. Some people still do a large meal at lunchtime, but not many. Dinner is usually around 6pm - I'm aware that in Spain you like to eat a lot later, not so in Ireland.
I think in Killarney people will go out to pubs, but in that particular place, most of the people are likely to be tourists and there for the music. Nowadays not even the people who work in the pubs are Irish - many are from Eastern Europe who are here to make some money.
I think, in all honesty, that if you want to meet Irish people in Ireland, Killarney is the last place you should go to. |
